A Festival Themed Wedding in the Summer
Happy New Year everyone! To combat the rather dreary weather outside at the moment, I thought I’d post this festival themed wedding at Rutland Water from the summer. Remember that? Summer? Me neither.
When Hannah (of Lifeline Photography) asked me to shoot Liz and Jamie’s wedding with her, I jumped at the chance. Always a cracking day when we shoot together, and this was no exception. Great weather (for the most part) and such a laid back wedding. Ace!
Wedding Day Preparations in Rutland
I met Jamie and the boys at The White Horse in Rutland, where they were all staying. Expecting to find them in varying degrees of readiness, I instead found them tucking in to some massive fry-ups. With some encouragement and much laughter, they got their act together and Jamie was soon looking very dapper in his Dr Who inspired waistcoat/bow-tie combo.
After a short drive, followed by a leisurely stroll from the car park, we arrived at Normanton Church on Rutland Water. It’s not actually a church any more though, and it only exists because the locals prevented the church from being destroyed as part of the construction of the resevoir. Good job too. It’s an amazing wedding venue!
Wedfest in a Private Field
Once it had all been made official, we headed to a field. I would tell you where, but as one of the ushers was my co-pilot and giving directions, I honestly have no idea. This was where Wedfest started. Done up like a mini festival, the field looked amazing!
Only interrupted by a short spell of rain, the rest of the day panned out in such a lovely and relaxed way. People came, people went, people lounged on the grass. A perfect summer wedding. Oh, and there was a bouncy castle, which I think some of the grown-ups enjoyed a little too much!
