One Fine Moment – A Dutch Delicacy

soused herring at a wedding

Here’s a little look back to a wedding I photographed over the Netherlands a couple of years ago. To this day it’s one of the biggest weddings I’ve ever been a part of, with what felt like the whole town showing up. This was my first time covering a wedding outside of the UK, so it was wonderful to be able to observe the differences and similarities to how wedding days run back here. One of the differences is shown in this image that I’ve chosen today, which pictures a guest enjoying some soused herring, which is a popular dish over there. The herring is frozen and then laid in salt for a few days to ripen before being eaten. Whilst I’ll admit to not finding it the most appealing wedding snack, the guests here loved it!
