A Parley Manor Wedding in Dorset
Last month, me and Simon (of SB Photography) headed down to the south coast for Kim and Simons wedding in Bournemouth. On our way down the night before, the exhaust on Simons car decided the trip was going too smoothly and promptly detached itself. A few minutes of Blue Peter inspired bodging and we were on our way.
After both arriving at Kim’s house in the morning, I managed to catch the Groom’s Dad on one of his many trips to pick things up/drop things off, so caught a lift back to the Grooms house. As I walked in the house, the smell of bacon hit me and I knew I’d struck it lucky, as neither of us had managed breakfast before we left.
Following a morning with the boys eating bacon sarnies and enjoying the views from their back garden, we headed to Parley Manor. A beautiful venue, a stones throw from Bournemouth airport. We soon got used to the sound of light aircraft landing though.
The weather was kind to us which meant we could all enjoy the grounds of Parley Manor. The blue skies, the fluffy clouds, the wedding in a marquee in the grounds of a country house…it was the perfect English wedding.
After some chatting on the lawns, we all made our way through into a walled garden, and another marquee for the wedding breakfast and reception. As we had friends in common with Kim, we were seated at a table with some other guests from Derby. So a quick break for us, which saw us both tucking into the bags of old-school sweets at each place setting. It didn’t spoil our appetite though.
The rest of the day was fantastic, with plenty of drinking, laughing and dancing from all. A little bit gutted that we had to make the drive back to Derby. As it was, the guests were spared our snazzy moves on the dancefloor!
