Scout and Girl Guide Themed Wedding
Charlotte and Jamie first got in touch back in 2017 and told me about how they met in the build up to the global scouting jamboree in 2015 and that their wedding day at would include all kinds of wonderful crafty, festivaly, scouting and girl guidesy things. I knew then that when their wedding date of May 5th 2018 rolled around, I would be in for the most fun-filled day. I wasn’t wrong!

Barn Wedding Venue in Leicestershire
Rocking up to the barn on a beautiful sunny morning, the first thing I noticed was how busy the place was. People were all over the place, carrying things, arranging things, hanging things, folding things. You name it, they were probably doing something to it! And this is part of the great scouting and guiding spirit that these guys had talked about. This wedding was definitely a team effort, and the day was all the better for it! With so many people having a role to play, it’s obvious that they’re going to get so much more out of the day in return. The sheer number of smiling and laughing faces throughout the day is testament to that.
As well as this day being so much about creativity, fun, and working together, it was also one where emotions were right there on the surface. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a greater need for tissues at a wedding, and I was glad to have my camera to hide behind when both Charlotte and Jamie were wiping away happy tears, along with most of the front row, at the start of the ceremony. It might not seem the easiest of things to point a camera at someone who’s crying, but I’m sure these photos will be such a beautiful reminder of just what it felt like to be there on the day.
Wedding Campground Fun & Games
The weather was on our side, as the sun stretched on into the afternoon, and the guests made use of all the fun and games that had been expertly planned and organised. A coconut shy, lawn twister, welly wanging, space hoppers, hula hoops, shuffle board, and an ice cream van, just to name a few. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get bored at this wedding. There were no excuses for spending too long being sat down.
As the evening rolled around, it was time to light the campfire, which for safety reasons, had to be a pyramid of tea lights. Which the entire wedding party gathered around for a good old campfire singalong. Song books were passed round, glasses were topped up, and off we went. It was fab to see so many people joining in and some excellent moves to accompany the songs. A perfect way to end this perfect day.
Me, Lara, and Pete had a ton of fun and laughs, and it’s definitely a wedding we’ll never forget!
