A Relaxed Autumn Wedding at Shustoke Barn in Warwickshire
Meet Sophie and Robin. This happy pair had their wedding at Shustoke Barn in Warwickshire last August. It’s an 18th century red brick barn with a private courtyard and surrounded by countryside. So if you’re looking for a rustic barn wedding venue in the Midlands, take Sophie and Robin’s lead and give this place a look!
We all started the day at Dovehouse Farm which is a few minutes drive from Shustoke Barn. The great thing about this place was that both Sophie and Robin could get ready in their own private cottage close to the venue. We just had to make sure either of them didn’t wander into the courtyard and catch a glimpse of the other. Even though they didn’t see each other, it was great for their bridesmaids and groomsmen to be able to nip across and sort the final wedding day details out.
Shustoke Barn Wedding Ceremony
At the venue, the guests found their seats accompanied to a spot of afternoon jazz from a trio that had set up in the corner of the main room. With the music, the stunning venue, and the general excitement of the day, it was no surprise at the number of people with big smiles on their faces as they settled in and admired the church-like interior of the venue.
After a lovely ceremony, with the newlyweds beaming from ear to ear the whole way through, it was outside for the confetti tunnel. Ending with one of the guests dropping a fistful of confetti right onto Robin’s bonce! Good lad! That’s what confetti is for! Despite it being a rather chilly August afternoon, everyone made the most of the courtyard, mingling, chatting, and…erm…flossing. As you do.
Then it was back inside for the main meal and the speeches, which had Sophie and Robin giving a joint speech. I’m a big fan of the ladies getting in on the speeches! For too long the speeches have just been three blokes getting up and having their moment. So it’s great to see more brides, bridesmaids, and mums getting up their and getting a chance to say a few words about the day. If you’re thinking about doing it…DO IT! Just don’t go looking for inspiration on the internet. The best speeches are always ones from the heart.
Sophie, Robin…it was great to spend the day with you and your guests, and I hope this post is a lovely little reminder of your wedding. Thanks for having me along! 🙂
