Derbyshire Farm Wedding
Relaxed Derbyshire Farm Wedding at Beechenhill Farm
Rebekah and Matthew had a small, intimate, and relaxed Derbyshire Farm Wedding last year. They’d chosen the rather wonderful Beechenhill Farm near Ashbourne in Derbyshire as their wedding venue. I photographed a wedding here for the first time at the start of 2017, and it’s a wonderful place to get married! Those views over the Derbyshire countryside are amazing. Oh, and did I mention it has a hot-tub?

As their wedding party was fairly small, they’d decided to make a weekend of it and most people were staying in accommodation on site, which I think is a great idea! Having all of your family and best buds around you for the weekend of your wedding. Sounds brilliant! This also meant that I could capture both Rebekah and Matt’s side of the morning preparations. Which is something I like to do where possible. I think people really love getting to see what their other half was up to on the wedding morning.
Getting Married Upstairs in the Haybarn
The Haybarn at the farm is a wonderful space, and has a number of different ways of setting up your wedding day. Rebekah & Matthew decided to have their ceremony upstairs, which gives you lovely views of the wooden beams in the roof, and also leaves the downstairs empty so you and your guests can gather there post-ceremony if the weather’s not great. As was the case today. After the emotional ceremony, which saw them both read out their personally written vows, they lead their guests downstairs where, after a peak out of the door, realised it might be better to stay inside for a while.
Thankfully we didn’t have to wait too long before the sun came out and we could enjoy some of the spectacular scenery around these parts. You could have the nicest wedding venue in the world, but you can’t beat a spot of sun and outdoors on your wedding day, right!? It meant we got to play with the resident dog, and the farm chickens! In the evening, armed with an iPod and some disco lights, the pair set up their own wedding entertainment, and after a little prompting, they soon had their friends up on the dance floor with them as their parents looked on from the sidelines. Shows that you don’t need a huge entertainment budget to have a damn good time! Just look at Matthew’s face in that last photo!
Thinking of Having a Derbyshire Farm Wedding?
If you’re thinking that you quite like the idea of getting married on a farm in the middle of Derbyshire, you’d do well to give the guys at Beechenhill a shout. In their own words “A wedding at Beechenhill is not a ‘hotel experience’; it is more like getting married in the country home of friends who care about you and the planet.” Sounds pretty perfect, doesn’t it.
