An Alternative Wedding at Casa in Chesterfield

I love it when my couples totally do their own thing with their wedding. So when Lisa and Francesco asked me to be their Casa Hotel wedding photographer in Chesterfield, and went on to tell me it’d have an alternative Beauty & the Beast/Dark Fantasy theme, I was all over it! Your wedding day is something you’ll do just the once, so surely the only way to do it is by making it a perfect celebration of the pair of you!

Lisa and her entourage (which I think is a fitting word, seeing as there were probably about 15 people in the room!) spent the morning getting ready in a room at the hotel. By the sounds of things, they’d had a great pre-wedding night in that room. Especially with the sauna out on the balcony. Yep. You heard me! Francesco had also arrived at the venue, and was downstairs with his groomsmen putting the finishing touches to their outfits. Always great when everyone’s in the same venue. Means I can capture both sides of the wedding preparations.

An Amazing Black Wedding Dress

Having got to know the pair of them a little, in the run up to the wedding, I knew that the day would never be traditional. They love sci-fi, horror movies, alternative music, and Francesco is a special effects make-up artist. Basically he can make people look like aliens. So when I saw Lisa’s black dress, it made total sense. And she looked sodding amazing! The folks over at Royal Black Couture and Jovani did a wonderful job!

During the ceremony, it was so great to see Francesco’s parents so animated and emotional, sat there on the front row watching their son marry the love of his life. Gotta love Italians for their displays of emotions. My Nonna would’ve loved to see these photos!

Wedding Reception with a Visit from The King

After the wedding breakfast and speeches were completed, (with a speech from Lisa, and a spot of murder mystery thrown in for good measure), it was on to the reception. Eating, drinking, laughing, and drinking some more. There was a photo booth for the guests to goof around with props, and the weather was dry meaning that people could enjoy the great terrace here.

Come the evening, and the band is setting up, but what’s this…the space where the frontman should be is occupied by none other than our groom, Francesco. Who then bravely serenades Lisa with a song along with the full band backing him. You could tell he was petrified, but the look on Lisa’s face made it all worth it! And the only way you could follow that, would be by the father of the bride dressing up in his Elvis impersonator’s outfit and doing a few numbers with the band. You just know this was a day that nobody there will forget in a hurry!
