An Autumn Wedding at Alrewas Hayes in Staffordshire

Some wedding days announce themselves with a bang; Emma and Joe’s more sort of gently unfolded. From the moment people started arriving at Alrewas Hayes on this September afternoon, there was a calm, unhurried feel to the whole day. Emma and Joe are both naturally easy-going, smiley people, and that tone carried through everything. No rushing, no over-directing, just space for people to be themselves and enjoy what was happening. Which, for this Alrewas Hayes wedding photographer, is my total happy place!

The day moved along at an easy pace, with nothing feeling staged or overdone. I kept things natural & unobtrusive, letting moments happen rather than directing them, which is the same approach I take when photographing Staffordshire weddings. One of the most emotional parts came early on, when Emma’s dad saw her in her dress for the first time; a quiet, tearful moment that needed no interference from me at all. By the end of the day, the mood had completely shifted, finishing with laughter, big smiles, and a brilliantly joyful dance between Emma and her new father-in-law. Just look how happy he is!!

Photographing Weddings at Alrewas Hayes, Staffordshire

Alrewas Hayes is a brilliant choice for couples who want their wedding day to feel calm, personal, and well-paced. Being an exclusive-use venue means everything happens in one place, which instantly takes the pressure off. There’s no rushing between locations, no juggling logistics, just time to enjoy the day as it unfolds. The layout makes it easy for guests to settle in, relax, and feel part of what’s going on, rather than being moved along on a tight schedule. And the staff were amazing and so so helpful!

Manor House Wedding

From a photography point of view, it’s a venue that really suits a natural, documentary approach. The interiors are light and understated, and the grounds give you plenty of space to step outside without feeling like you’ve disappeared for ages. That means photos can happen quickly and quietly, without pulling couples away from their friends and family. If you’re not keen on lots of posing or being told where to stand, places like Alrewas Hayes make it much easier to keep things relaxed and unobtrusive.

Alrewas Hayes Orangery Ceremony Room

The Orangery at Alrewas Hayes is a really lovely space, bright, calm, and quietly elegant without feeling showy. Loads of natural light, soft neutral tones, and big windows looking out onto the courtyard make it feel relaxed and airy. It works brilliantly for ceremonies and drinks, especially if you want something that feels special but not overly formal.
