Highcliffe Castle Wedding
A Wedding at Highcliffe Castle in Dorset
Earlier this year, I was asked by my friend Alex Kilbee to photograph a Highcliffe Castle wedding in Dorset with him. I know a fair few wedding photographers, and if I’m available, always jump at the chance to shoot with them.
We drove down to Dorset the night before to scope out the venue and to have a bit of time beside the seaside. As you do. Just our luck it was typical English bleakness. Cold, wet and grey. Still had a walk on the beach though.
On the day of the wedding, we both arrived at Leah’s parents house in the morning and were greeted by cups of coffee and a blue sky! Unfortunately for the fantastic marquee in the back garden, quite a strong wind had joined the party too.
Highcliffe Castle is a stunning venue, and the giant window Leah & Ben were married under made a great backdrop. After a while milling around in the grounds, some of the guests decided to take the coastal path to Leah’s parents house which was a 10 minute walk away. I followed the guests and by the time we got to the house, I was suitably sand-blasted thanks to the wind!
Despite the winds constant attempts to whisk the marquee into the channel, it stood its ground and everyone, myself and Alex included, had a throughly enjoyable time! Even being told by a rather tipsy Ben that we HAD to have a pint before leaving. Oh go on then…
