A Relaxed Wedding at the Parsonage Hotel, Escrick
Here are some highlights from Elisha and Chris’s Parsonage House Hotel wedding back in August last year. Having Yorkshire roots, it’s always good to travel north to shoot weddings, and this is a fab venue in beautiful surroundings. Add that to Elisha and Chris being an absolute blast to hang-out with, and I had a fun-filled day as a Parsonage Hotel wedding photographer

I started the day at their house in the little village of Kelfield, which isn’t too far from the venue. I spent an hour or so with Elisha and her bridesmaids as they had their hair and make-up done, ate bacon butties and got into their dresses…thankfully in that order, so no brown-sauce-meets-wedding-dress type disasters! I think Elisha may have been suffering from a touch of the wedding morning nerves, so it was great that she was at home, with her parents and bridesmaids around her.
I left the girls and made my way to the venue to meet Chris and to capture some of the moments before Elisha arrived. The Parsonage Hotel in Escrick is a gorgeous old building almost entirely covered in ivy. It’s surrounded by woodland, lawns and formal gardens and is a great place to hold a wedding. Chris seemed to be taking it all in his stride, and was all smiles with his best man as they greeted guests and then waited in the ceremony room for Elisha to arrive.
Wedding ceremony at Parsonage Hotel & Spa
It wasn’t long before Elisha was pulling up to the front of the venue in the wedding car and walking down the aisle with her dad. She did her best to hold it in, but as she reached Chris she couldn’t help but let a few happy tears out. And all with a big smile on her face, too. After the ceremony the guests followed Elisha and Chris down the aisle to the little lawn outside where they showered the happy couple with confetti before enjoying the autumn sunshine and blue skies for some top quality mingling.
We had a short break away from the guests as Chris and Elisha had mentioned that they’d quite like to have a couple of relaxed wedding portraits taken. So I followed the wedding car along the country lanes out towards Skipwith Common where we stopped at a little pond with a willow tree beside it. A quintessentially English summertime scene if ever there was one.
Back at the venue it was time for the wedding breakfast followed by the speeches. These were the perfect kind of speeches. Not overly long and made everyone laugh and smile. Just what you need. It also meant that everyone had some time to get outside and enjoy the last of the day’s sunshine before the evening do got started. Which was easier said than done as there was a last minute wardrobe malfunction and one of the bridesmaids had to nip off with Elisha’s mum to get it sorted. They returned eventually and the evening reception got underway with the first dance followed by a great set from wedding band, The Entertainment Company.

I hope you enjoyed a few of my favourites from the day, showing the genuine moments and telling the real story of Elisha and Chris’s wedding. Short of a few relaxed portraits, nothing is staged or posed, which left Elisha and Chris free to enjoy the day with their nearest and dearest.
